Job Description:
Scanning Sherpas is looking to bring on highly reliable subcontracted hired medical record retrieval technicians to travel to multiple locations across the United States. We are seeking highly motivated and customer service minded individuals. The job duties include but are not limited to:
- Travelling to various medical providers sites
- Working within a team and at times solo in order to retrieve copies of medical records
- Collaborating for scheduling and retrieval purposes with Scanning Sherpa schedulers and at times with medical provider managers
- Scanning paper medical records and saving them to PDF format
- Retrieving medical record copies from medical providers various EHR and EMR computer systems and saving copies to PDF format
- Ensuring secure temporary storage of medical records
- Transmitting medical records to Scanning Sherpas servers
- Providing a safe and secure location for scanning equipment
- Using proprietary Scanning Sherpa web user interfaced software for transmission, scheduling and other communications
- Updating Excel invoice spreadsheets
The positions will be subcontracted and the hired help will receive a 1099 at the end of each year. Work is based on available contracts which are subject to busy and slow times. End of January through May are typically slow to no work months. Scanning Sherpas does not guarantee a set number of hours of contracted work at any given time.
Confident with computers
Capable of learning new software programs quickly, specifically EMR (electronic management record software)
Meticulous and Clean in the workplace
Comfortable using a scanner
Reliable
Professional self presentation
Fluent in English
Works well with team members
Access to internet from home residence
Must pass HIPAA and FWA training and tests
Able to pass a thorough background and drug test
Extensive Travel Over Periods Of Time Required
Highly desired skills:
Experience working with medical records
EMR computer system experience
Medical terminology knowledge
Technical background
HIPAA and FWA trained
